Romero 11/21 Twilight: New Moon smashed the opening day box office record on Friday with a stunning $72.7M in ticket sales, according to estimates released by Summit. 11/21 More Hints Of Jill Valentine's Return. Shock Till You Drop spoke with producer Don Carmody about a number of projects he has in the pipeline including Resident Evil: Afterlife: "Part two made more than one, three made more than two and we're hoping four will make more than three," he said. "It keeps the franchise strong. What we want to avoid is what's happening with the Saw franchise which is going the other way. We're hoping Paul being back in the driver's seat with 3-D and these big action set pieces will keep it going." And since I've been pressing to find out more about this talk of the return of Jill Valentine (which Milla Jovovich spilled the beans about here), I asked Carmody if he could comment. "No," he chuckled, "it's going to be surprising and it's going to make people think what's going to happen next." To put it in simpler terms: She'll own you in the bedroom, and she'll have your back in a bar fight. After all, her name means "goddess of the love," and she's trained in the explosive art of Muay Thai boxing. The South African edition of FHM gave her further beauty dues by featuring her on its 100 Sexiest Women list. The synopsis for upcoming DTV sequel Lost Boys 3: The Thirst mentions Gwen Liebling, a wealthy vampire-romance novelist who hires Edgar Frog to rescue her son, and today we learned who would be playing said novelist: South African model and actress Tanit Phoenix. 11/19 Silent Hill 2 Update: "Well, we have had a bit of a hiccup with Roger," admits Afterlife and Silent Hill producer Don Carmody in an exclusive chat with Shock Till You Drop. "We're just debating whether we can wait for him. He's writing the script for sure." Although actress Radha Mitchell has voiced interest in starring again (her involvement is unconfirmed right now), one original key player won't be back: director Gans. "I don't think he wants to come back. He'll have some input for sure. In his mind, I think he wanted to do the first one and for this he's very happy to consult, but I think he wants to direct something new," says Carmody who has some definite ideas about how to improve the Silent Hill franchise's big screen counterpart. "I think we need to make it a little more accessible to the movie-going public," he says frankly. "Silent Hill is not a blockbuster game like Resident Evil or the other games out there. It's a connoisseurs' game. It has its own, rabid fan base. They're not cheap, these things. You have to appeal not only to the gamers, you have to appeal to a wider audience. So we have to get some story in there that helps explain a bit more. I think that's all happening. Of course, [the story] is going to happen years later and the main character - without giving too much away - is much older and representative to the movie-going public which is in that age group." Decided it was too shocking to show the American people.' That of course was answered by boos...to which Rob said, 'I know, but that's Hollywood.' He then said he "stole a few minutes of the movie and crammed them into another called Grindhouse, which some of you may have seen." So, then Rob Zombie and company played the song of the same name, while the entire trailer for Werewolf Women, as seen only in the theatrical release of GRINDHOUSE played in its entirety on a big screen behind the stage. He went on to explain what types of films that they will parody in the film, "I've [included] manga comics, Asian ghost girl movies, there's some PG-13 horror movies in there, vampire movies, M. Night Shyamalan movies and torture porn movies, even though they've come and gone." But don't worry he promises to keep it scary, "You have to be careful because 'Scary Movie' spoofed these films, so one of the things I'm excited about with 'Scream 4' is that, while we do lampoon and send up the genre, [we] make it incredibly scary.
